We are very sad to announce that we will not be able to race at this year’s speed week. Ian and Janine are still planning on attending the event (Covid permitting) but the practicalities of shipping the car have proven insurmountable.
Due to this very unusual of times the shipping industry has adapted to make the most of the situation. Due to the lack of commercial flights the vast majority of international freight is going by boat. As a result costs have skyrocketed and docks are struggling to keep up.
Our intention was to ship the car to Long Beach, California this time. The traditional shipping time is four to five weeks at the moment that is six to seven weeks. This means that the car would need to be shipped in two weeks time to be certain that it would be in the USA in time for speed week.
For reasons, some of which were beyond our control, the car will not be sufficiently ready for us to get there and acheive our targets.
On the brighter side, although we may not be able to get to Bonneville this year, the extra time will allow us to do some more runs in the UK.
We will be making every effort to run at least once at Elvington in Yorkshire and the Straighliners event in September.
As I am sure you can understand we are all absolutely gutted by this decision, but we plan to use the extra time to push and improve the car as much as possible.
Once again we thank you for your continued support and would like to assure all of you this is simply a blip and we remain undeterred in the pursuit of our dreams.
