Bonneville 2025 Review

Ian Northeast 14 August, 2025

Wow! What an event, this land speed racing malarky sure throws up some emotion.

This year has felt probably the hardest ever. There was a lot of very intense preparation before the trip, both from our American colleagues in advance and upon our arrival just before the event.

There was a spate of illness which affected over half of the team before we even got to the salt and an awful lot of pressure on everyone and everything to perform.

Having said all of that, we went into the event knowing this would be our last visit to Bonneville with the car and that knowledge changed our attitude to pretty much everything.

The entire team was keen to make the most of every moment. This wasn’t the usual 100% push for maximum performance, this was now a take a moment and look at where you are, breathe in the salt air and take a minute to shake hands with the person next to you.

Neither the car, nor the bike lived up to their potential or our expectations. For the first time ever with the car, we went slower than previous attempts.

We did however, meet and get to know a lot more people than ever before.

We managed eight runs in total in the car with four runs over 180 mph and the bike and rider simply need tighter preparation to live up to their potential.

We would very much like to thank everyone that has been along with us for the ride. At the darker times it has been uplifting to know there are people that are actually interested and hopefully a little inspired by our activities.

We also are completely indepted to the wonderful people at the SCTA, the wonderful participants at every event and of course our family at the bend in the road. Without any of these people this would have just been a complete waste of time.

This is not our final posting as once the car is back in the UK we intend to do some demonstration events around the country to showcase our work, before it starts the next chapter of it’s life.

We also understand our driver has been writing a memoir of his experiences and will be looking to get these published for anyone else that may need that extra bit of inspiration, or alternatively putting off a bad idea!

Thank you all and please keep an eye on your inboxes.

Racing is not about how fast you get from the start line to the chequered flag. It's about the amazing people you meet, the fantastic places you go and the wonderful things you learn on the way.
