Good morning all,
The 2023 team has made it succesfully to the USA. We all arrived via various different flights and destinations to Bruce’s workshop to gather all of the necessary to prepare our selves for this year’s event.
Nearly everyone made it safe and sound (Pete our thoughts are with you and love to the family!) and the preparations have gone well.
It has been pointed out to us that in our previous messages we ‘implied’ that the car was in perfect running condition and all we had to do was get it to the salt. This is not entirely accurate.
At our final event in the UK, the Jensen owners club C-V8 anniversary dinner, we noticed the engine was ‘breathing’ rather heavily. From the breather pipes there was a very oily aroma.
Bruce (our saviour) offered to have a look once the car had arrived in the USA.
Unfortunately, on inspection we had a problem!

The piston damage was a massive set back.
Luckily a donor engine was available and we could rebuild quite quickly.

Bruce (with a little help from his friends) managed to get our engine stripped and all of the healthy race parts removed and then fitted to the donor engine in time for our arrival.
So on the first day we all worked together to get the engine finished and installed in the car.

The first day was very hard work with a million and one small details but we broke the back of the work.
Next day we finished the install and got the car and the bikes all loaded ready to leave.

We’re literally about to leave and I’m getting some ‘looks’ from the team that went to leave.
