New Brakes

Ian Northeast 5 September, 2017

As Wing Commander Andy Green is fond of saying, acceleration and steering is completely optional, once you’re in the driving seat, you can decide where and how fast you are going to go. Stopping however is not optional, once you’re moving you will, at some point, have to stop.

This is something we are very conscious of. Luckily when the Ford rear axle was fitted, we acquired the same rear callipers and braking system as a current Ford Mustang. This did mean for a while we had, better and larger rear brakes than front. Not a very efficient system.

Thanks to our friends at Wilwood and particularly Andy at Rally Design in Kent we have now acquired the parts to sort the front end stoppers. Hopefully once the parts have been machined, altered and adapted we should have brakes capable of stopping the car from 200mph, in the unlikely event of a ‘chute failure.

Racing is not about how fast you get from the start line to the chequered flag. It's about the amazing people you meet, the fantastic places you go and the wonderful things you learn on the way.
